IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT PASSPORTS
As from July 8th 2014 the annual passport fee is no longer due. The cost of a new passport can be checked on the website main page under Consular fees, which are subject to change every 3 months.
Please note that passports cannot be renewed. Even if you already hold an Italian passport, when expiring, you must follow the instructions for the issuance of a new passport.
HOW TO OBTAIN A PASSPORT
Italian citizens, in order to present the application for the issuance of passports, must schedule an appointment with the Consulate (see here).
The payment of passport fees can be made in cash or with Money Order.
In case you want the new passport mailed, please bring along a prepaid/addressed envelope for the shipping.
Users are also requested to check the information published on this web site regarding the AIRE registry and the alignment of their vital record: Registry of Italians Residing Abroad and Vital Records.
IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE APPOINTMENT BE BOOKED WELL IN ADVANCE OF THE EXPIRATION DATE OF THE BOOKLET: AT CERTAIN TIMES OF THE YEAR, NUMEROUS REQUESTS FOR APPOINTMENTS FROM USERS MAY LENGTHEN THE WAITING TIME FOR THE FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT
