Minors younger than 14 who travel not accompanied

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING MINORS  YOUNGER THAN 14 WHO TRAVEL NOT ACCOMPANIED BY THEIR PARENTS

Starting from June 4, 2014, Italian citizens under the age of 14, traveling unaccompanied by at least one of the parents or by those exercising parental authority, need an accompanying declaration issued by the consular office of residence. The certificate is free and is issued by the Consulate for all minors residing in the jurisdiction upon express request from parents or those exercising parental authority persuant art. 3, letter a) Act 1185/1967

To obtain this certification, the Declaration form must be submitted together with:

● copy of the parents’ passports
● copy of the minor’s passport
● copy of the passport of the accompanying person (s)
● Airline and flight data

In the case of a parent who is a non-EU citizen, the signature must be authenticated by a Notary Public or in person to the Consulate.

In the event that you wish to have the minor travel in foster care with the transport company, it is suggested, before purchasing the air ticket, to check whether the same accepts that the minor is in its care.
