Mario Alberto BARTOLI (La Spezia, 3 June 1971) graduated in law from the University of Salerno on 23 February 1996.
He entered the diplomatic service on 30 December 1999. After his training period, he served in the Directorate General for Asia, Oceania, Pacific and Antarctica. On 19 March 2001 he was appointed Second Secretary for Commercial Affairs, then First Secretary, in Tallinn.
In 2004 he was assigned to Manila, before returning to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in 2008, serving at the Directorate General for Asia, Oceania, Pacific and Antarctic Countries.
Appointed “Consigliere di Legazione” in July 2010, a few months later he was appointed Head of Office VIII of the Directorate General for Globalisation and Global Issues.
In 2011, he became Counsellor in Jakarta, and then, in 2014, in Helsinki.
Promoted to “Consigliere di Ambasciata” in July 2015, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in 2019 as Head of Office VI of the Directorate-General for Political and Security Affairs and then Head of Office III of the same Directorate-General in January 2022.
In November 2022, he is appointed Head of Office V of the Directorate General for Globalisation and Global Issues, where he also performs deputy functions of the Deputy Director General/Central Director for Sub-Saharan African Countries.
On 16 September 2024, he assumed the functions of Consul General of Italy in Chicago.
