How to register
It is possible to request the registration to AIRE through the “Fast It” portal:
https://serviziconsolarionline.esteri.it
ONLY EXCEPTIONALLY IN CASE OF ACTUAL DIFFICULTY IN THE USE OF THE FASTIT SYSTEM, it is possible to proceed as follows, considering that the processing time of the file may lengthen
To request the registration, applicants must fill out the AIRE Form (one form for each Italian citizen living at the same address needs to be filled out) along with copies of the following documents (for each Italian citizen living at same address):- “Permanent Resident Card” (new edition bearing the fingerprints) or US Visa granting legal residence for a period longer than one year from the date of application.
- Photocopy of Italian passport and of those of any family members.
- Proof of address in the United States (US driver’s licenses, rental agreements or utility bills, tax forms or any other official document confirming the current address).
- Certificate of U.S. naturalization (only for individuals who have acquired the American citizenship after August 15, 1992).
A copy of the above documentation can be submitted either by ordinary mail or email at anagrafe.chicago@esteri.it .
Incomplete Application forms will be rejected and returned to the applicant. Please note that B1-B2 US visitor visas are not valid to request registration with AIRE because they are not considered long-term visas and do not allow to reside legally in the USA.
Please note that if you haven’t registered in Italy the birth certificates of your minor children born abroad you are required to do so in order to register them with AIRE. To know more check the Vital record section.
