The Consulate General of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago present the IX edition of the Italian Design Day (IDD)
Over millennia of human evolution, food has transformed from a source of nutrition to an integral part of society and culture. Food reflects who we are, what we believe, and what we become. Today, institutions, organizations, and corporations incorporate complex models and innovative methods to develop new products and build circular food economies.
This Italian Design Day, the Institute of Design at Illinois Tech will partner with the School of Design at Politecnico di Milano to highlight how design-led innovation impacts the modern food industry. Experts from academia and industry will share three types of innovation in the food industry: product innovation, where companies engage human-centered frameworks to understand human behavior and develop new recipes and products; system innovation, where researchers study human and societal shifts for new systems design; and platform innovation where academia and industry partner to build platforms for new product development and organizational redesign.
