National Visa

National Visas

National visas are issued for periods longer than 90 days (91 to 365) and cannot be issued for tourism or business purposes. Please go back to the main visa page to find the different types of visas Italy offers.

Beginning January 11, 2025, all National (Long stay – over 90 days) visa applicants must submit their applications IN PERSON to provide fingerprints.

This requirement, mandated under Italian Decree No. 145 dated October 11, 2024, applies to all National visa categories without exceptions.

Holders of type D visas are permitted to circulate freely in Schengen countries other than the issuing one for a period of not more than 90 days per half-year and only if the visa is valid.
