Italy rejects any form of discrimination and violence against women and girls, and reiterates its commitment against this unacceptable phenomenon, which is also a serious impediment to attaining gender equality and effective enjoyment of women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n
Since this is a priority action in Italy foreign policy, the Foreign Ministry pursues the goal of eliminating all violence against women, both on a diplomatic level and by using the instruments of development cooperation. The numerous international campaigns in which Italy is in the front line – such as those to eradicate harmful practices against women and girls, including mutilation of feminine genitals and early and forced marriages – bear witness to this fact.<\/p>\n
